Failed negotiation of the mega fight “Pacquiao vs. Mayweather”, results the March 13 bout of the “Pound for Pound King” against Joshua “Grand Master” Clottey.
After the confusion of both boxers’ camp with regards to the drug testing protocol, the fight was called off. Bob Arum announced that instead of Mayweather, Pacquiao will be fighting against the Ghana – native boxer, Joshua Clottey.
“This match will be one of the best boxing event and Pacquiao will surely have a hard time with him compared to Mayweather,” said Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s coach. “This will not be a boring fight,” he added.
The match between two big names in boxing will be held at Cowboys Stadium, Arlington Texas. HBO will cover the said mega event of 2010. Mayweather also talked with the station to air his fight, but HBO chose the Pacman’s.
Undercard to Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight are WBC super Featherweight Champion Humberto Soto versus former WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz for WBC Lightweight division. The match will also feature undercard fights of Jose Castillo vs. Alfonso Gomez and Johnny Duddy vs. Michael Medina.
Laurence Cole was luckily chosen to mediate the fight.
